Just thought I’d let you know I have a reading and workshop coming up on Saturday, September 20, at the Columbine Poetry Festival, hosted by the Writers Studio at Arapahoe Community College. You can find more details here. Swing by if you’re of a mind to and please do let any friends and students who might be interested know about the Festival.
Also, if you happen to be in Taos on Saturday, October 11, I’ll be reading with a whole bunch of terrific poets at the RANE Gallery, in conjunction with the Taos Fall Art Festival. (Click here for a map to RANE Gallery.) The event is called “Interwoven Illuminations” because of the unique process that produced the poems and the artwork being presented at the event. A painting by Bill Rane was sent to a poet, who wrote a poem in reaction to it; then that poem (with no name visible) was sent to another artist, who created another painting in reaction to the poem; then that painting (with no name visible) was sent to yet another poet … and so on. Eleven poets, eleven painters. (Think of it as an artistic game of Telephone.) Anyway, I’ve seen only the anonymous painting I wrote from, and only know about the poem I wrote—so the whole event will be one ekphrastic surprise after another for us all. The reading is free and open to the public.
Last year I read with several of these same poets at RANE, and it was a luminous experience—so I’m really looking forward to another one!
Well! That was fun. What a marvelous night of poets and painters. Let’s do it again!
I don’t know about "Interwoven Illuminations," but there is a collection in the works of last year’s poems, all written to paintings by Bill Rane. I’ll keep blog readers posted about it!
That would be really neat, for those of us who are fascinated by the idea, but will never get to see it…
Are there any plans to publish<BR/>"Interwoven Illuminations"<BR/>online?
