A “Friends Help Friends Write” Reading
Some of you already know that I am directing a new Master of Arts program at the University of Denver’s University College called Professional Creative Writing. The word “professional” simply means that students aim to learn not just about writing but about the publishing ecosystem, with an eye toward earning at least some of their income within that ecosystem. Self-enrichment, yes—but with readers in mind. The program launches officially this summer, and we’re introducing it with a “Friends Help Friends Write” Open House on Tuesday, April 11th, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the D.U. campus.Read More

Cid Corman Reads William Carlos Williams
Cid Corman was a fine poet in his own write, but he was also a great and essentially selfless promoter of other poets, not just through his editorship of Origin magazine (founded in 1951), but through his many translations and his quirky, insightful essay on poets and poetry. What’s more, in 1949 Corman co-founded America’s first poetry radio program, This Is Poetry, at WMEX (1510 kc.) in Boston.Read More
