Video: Professional Creative Writing Open House Readings
Faculty members of the Professional Creative Writing program, which I direct at D.U., read at an Open House on March 7, 2018. Presenters included Pat Dubrava, Brian Laidlaw, Tripp Baltz, Page Lambert, Emily Vizzo, Trai (Traci) Cartwright, Tim Earley … and moi. Please note: This video was shot on an iPad statically positioned on a wire display stand. For better or worse, the makers gave the performing writers—professionals all—no guidance about where to stand to remain in the shot. Luckily, we did at least capture the exciting flow of words, and the words are what matter.Read More

A “Friends Help Friends Write” Reading

The word “professional” simply means that students aim to learn not just about writing but about the publishing ecosystem, with an eye toward earning at least some of their income within that ecosystem. Self-enrichment, yes—but with readers in mind. The program launches officially this summer, and we’re introducing it with a “Friends Help Friends Write” Open House on Tuesday, April 11th, from 6 to 8 p.m. on the D.U. campus.Read More
