For the first of three Twitter poems by moi, check out the Twitter-zine unFold on Twitter or at the magazine’s Web site.
This first poem, like the others that follow, started out as bad haiku, but the requirement of Twitter that poems be one line forced me to [a] improve the poems (with editor Rose Auslander’s excellent advice)and [b] explore uses of punctuation as something akin to musical notation. Adios, syllable count; hello, fine-tuning of pauses!
I should add that the poem of mine that has brought the most comment from readers is a one-liner entitled “Artichoke”:
O heart weighed down by so many wings
So maybe I’ve found my niche!
My other two Twitter poems are scheduled to run in unFold consecutively on Friday, February 14, and Wednesday, February 19. Let me add that you’ll get the most out of unFold by becoming a follower, which means you’ll be alerted to new poems as they’re released….
