Poetry Month 2015: “A Marked Man” On Stage
Last night I attended a rehearsal for this Thursday’s performance of my historical narrative poem “A Marked Man,” mounted by Director Ed Osborn and nine actors of his Living Room Theatre. I have to say, it’s strange and wonderful to hear words I’ve heard only in my own head (and voice, when I’ve read pieces from this lengthy poem) voiced by professional actors. Joseph Hutchison, Colorado Poet Laureate 2014-2019, has published 20 collections of poems and edited or co-edited three poetry anthologies. He currently directs two master’s-level programs for University College at the University of Denver: Professional Creative Writing and Arts & Culture Management. Joe lives with his wife, Melody Madonna, in the mountains southwest of Denver, Colorado, the city where he was born.
