Yuyutsu RD Sharma |
Just a reminder that Yuyutsu R.D. Sharma, the distinguished poet and translator from Nepal, will present a free-and-open-to-the-public reading at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow—Thursday, January 16—at Book Bar, Denver’s singular book store and wine bar. His presentation, “Evoking the Himalayan Muse,” will center on his new collection, Nine New York Poems: A Prelude to “A Blizzard in My Bones.“
Yuyutsu seems to have read everywhere—from the Seamus Heaney Center for Poetry (Belfast) to the PEN Center in Paris; the Royal Society of Dramatic Arts in London to the Frankfurt Book Fair; and the W.B. Yeats Center (Sligo) to the Trois Rivieres Poetry Festival (Quebec) and Baruch College in New York. I first heard him read, of all places, in Bergen Park (near Evergreen) several years ago, and I can attest that his work is lyrical, witty, scathing, exalting, and profoundly intelligent.
You’ll kick yourself, as my mother used to say, if you miss this wonderful event at Book Bar! They’re located at 4280 Tennyson Street, Denver, CO 80212. Call 720-443-2227 if you need directions or have questions about the reading.
