In late April I launched my new collection, Eyes of the Cuervo | Ojos del Crow, at the boutique seaside hotel Melody and I have enjoyed every year for more than two decades. (See the YouTube video below.) Eyes/Ojos is a bilingual, illustrated edition translated into Spanish by Patricia Herminia with drawings by Sabina Espinet. It is limited to 250 copies which have been numbered and signed by moi.
Now, on May 25th, comes the official U.S. launch of Eyes/Ojos, in the Mad Blood Presents reading series hosted in Evergreen, Colorado. (See here for event details and driving directions.)
I’ll be reading poems from it along with a number of new pieces, and I’m glad to be doing so with the amazing Kyle Laws, who will be reading from her most recent collection, This Town: Poems of Correspondence, a poetic dialogue with Lafayette poet Jared Smith. She will also read from Faces of Fishing Creek, a powerful verse novella forthcoming from Middle Creek Publishing.

Below is a video of the Eyes of the Cuervo | Ojos del Crow launch at Petit Lafitte. The Spanish versions of my poems, created by Patricia Herminia, were read by my friend Iván Fuentes. The beautiful setting for the reading was the brainchild of Guillermo Fuentes.
Felicidades, querido Joseph!
We hope to be there!
please tell Kyle hello for me.
Qué divertido! It looks like you had a wonderful time.
