    I once heard Stafford read in a West Colfax bar in Lakewood, CO. We had a back room, the front room being given over to a jukebox and one pool table surrounded by rowdies. Stafford always read with authority, but very <I>quietly</I>, so it was amazing to notice, a few poems in, that the jukebox had quit and the hubbub dwindled to a murmur. I looked around and found a dozen beer-clutching patrons

    I’m a Stafford fan…and enjoyed these. My personal favorite, which I’ve memorized, is "Ask Me."
