I recently happened upon this fine collection of haiku by John Brandi, vintage 1994. Here are a few samples:
Last night’s dream
wrote it with the wrong end
of the pencil*
In the mirror
the old man I was afraid of
as a child*
Overheard at the nursery:
“What do I feed
my Tree of Heaven?”*
Every inch
of the way
in leaking boots*
Against the rising moon
who can tell monks
from monkeys?
Aside from the title, Weeding the Cosmos, it was that last poem that forced me to buy the book….
