Welcome to four recently-arrived Birders: Jeanne, Deborah Harris, Claudia Samperi-Warren and Larry Dunning.
Jeanne and Deborah are students of mine in a poetry class at University of Denver’s University College. I look forward to reading whatever keen comments they care to make!
Claudia is proprietress of the extraordinary blog poetfranksamperi, which serves as an ongoing tribute to her father, the fine poet Frank Samperi. It’s one of the lower points of my reading life that my copies of Samperi’s Prefiguration and Lumen Gloriae were in a box of books I had shipped home from Oregon after a brief sojourn there, only to have the box get lost in transit. I’ve sometimes fantasized that it will show up one day, with stickers of some kind indicating where all it’s been. But my practical side long ago replaced Samperi’s books and added the missing book of that trilogy, Quadrifariam. He is an indispensable poet.
Larry is a writer of short stories and novels who you can find out more about here; he doesn’t mention it on his site, but Larry has a new collection of stories on the way in the Fall. Maybe he’ll put a flashy alert on that home page of his. Hmmm? Larry?
Thanks for the mention, Joe. I have no idea how to do the "alert" thing you mentioned. Maybe you should teach a class for blog dummies like me.
Joseph,
Besides my father's library my husband is an avid reader so we have many more books than our small 2 bedroom apt can hold.
I feel very blessed that I am able to bring this blog of my father's words to others and I know between heaven and earth my father is so happy. We always had a special connection when I was young and now in my grown up life it continues through this
What a kind offer! But you'll have to define "need." I have this problem with needing more books than my house can hold, though I imagine your Dad's are mostly pretty thin (physically). Let me ponder that one….

He is quite lucky, wherever he is, to have you here doing this good work, I hope you know.
Hi Joseph,
Thank you so much for the post today.
It brought a twinkle to my eye and if you are in need of any more books of Frank's please let me know and I will send them on.

Claudia
