    I hadn&#39;t thought of Al Purdy, but yes! And, in a way, Seamus Heaney—though Heaney brings high and low together in a different, maybe a more self-conscious, way.<br /><br />A story about Levine. Many years ago I co-edited an anthology of poems about work called <i>A Song for Occupations</i>. I wanted a couple of Levine&#39;s poems for it, but when I wrote to Atheneum they wanted to charge me $

    My kind of poet! The style reminiscent of novelist Wallace Stegner and Canadian Al Purdy.<br /><br />Poet of a true common and not another &#39;faculty lounge&#39; versifier.<br /><br />Well done, America!
