    I want to move to where you live, Lyle! Most of the poets I know are firmly in the academy, though some (like me) keep just a toe in that water. Truth is my personal circle is pretty small, though, and representative of nothing but time, location, and chance.     My own speculation (based on little more than a seat-of-the-pants guess) is that there may be a <i>slightly</i> larger number of serious poetry readers outside of the academic world that inside it.<br /><br />Most of the poets I personally know work outside of colleges and universities. I&#39;m thinking it&#39;s possible that a (slight, at least) majority of poets don&#39;t work in the academic

    I wasn&#39;t aware of the &quot;lonely situation&quot; line…so true.<br /><br />Like you said, this doesn&#39;t have to be sad. A poem can be meaningful if only one person reads it.
