    I haven&#39;t read Eshleman&#39;s <i>Juniper Fuse</i>, though a while back I read an essay of his, &quot;The Backwall of Imagination&quot; (now available in his essay collection <i>Archaic Design</i>), in which he tells about his numerous visits to the painted caves in France and Spain and the related work of his that led to his writing <i>Juniper Fuse</i>.<br /><br />I found Eshleman&#39;s essay
