I suspect Kelly is right, even if I'd rather he weren't. On the other hand, I'm sure there were people complaining and fearful and worried as the codex replaced the scroll, but their voices have been lost and we've had a pretty robust culture with that new form… as I hope we will with the next. I'm leery of arguments based on such "evidence," but it gives me a bit

Thanks for that link, William. It's always good to have a reality check. And Vassilis—I love the Fahrenheit connection! My favorite used book store here in Denver is called Fahrenheit's, for obvious reasons.

Truth be told I never used to worry about the Future of the Book. Then my daughter, a book snob like her Dad, bought herself a Nook. Et tu, Susi?

"Kindle" until you reach Fahrenheit 451, Joe!

By the way, great response to Kelly's post.

I don’t pretend to know, or even to have an opinion. We’re all along for the ride to somewhere.

Of possible interest:

<a href="http://lareviewofbooks.org/post/4659371294/the-death-of-the-book" rel="nofollow">The Death of the Book

Darn. I spent two bucks on used books again today.

Thanks, Joe.
