    Hi, Reginald—<BR/><BR/>I would never argue that intention must exist before one sits down to write. But if intention doesn’t come into being before the poem’s done, I don’t see how the poem can matter to the poet or to the reader. Besides, I still think you’re construing "intention" in a narrower way than I am. Maybe one’s conscious intention is simply to "write a good poem," but don’t you think
