I’m excited to be joining Yuyutsu RD Sharma, poet of the Himalayas, for the launch of the hot-off-the-press issue of PRATIK. I hope you’ll join us! Yuyutsu is a renowned poet from Nepal who has performed his work for audiences around the world. Adventures in Reading 2018

Let me admit up front that I’ve included half a dozen books here that were read as part of my work with the Professional Creative Writing program at University College. But they all turned out to be worthwhile reading experiences. Even those I couldn’t quite connect with—Juan Gelman’s The Poems of Sidney West, Ben Lerner’s Angle of Yaw, and Adonis’s powerful Concerto al-Quds, which is also recondite and nakedly anguished by turns—continue to haunt me. This is usually an early indicator of re-readings in the offing.Read More

Lovelandia
I want to thank the good people of the Loveland Public Library, Columbine Poets, and the Loveland Museum/Gallery for producing a rather large crowd for this past Friday’s reading and the workshop next morning. Since Gov. Hickenlooper whacked me with his gubernatorial wand and transmogrified me from an ink-stained wretch into a laureate, I’ve done more such events than I did in the ten years previous, and I have to say that this audience was one of the most engaged I’ve ever come across.Read More
